Foster Grandparent volunteers continue to touch the lives of so many children in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. Foster Grandparents donating over 266,972 hours to our school children in the 2017-2018 school year. Using the Independent Sector value of a volunteer hour of $24.69,
Foster Grandparents donated $6,591,538.68 in volunteer service!
The Foster Grandparent Program is an intergenerational volunteer program that provides valuable aid to children with special and exceptional needs. The Program has a dual purpose – to enhance the lives of children with special needs through a caring relationship and to provide a high quality experience that enriches the lives of the volunteers and the children they serve.
The Foster Grandparent Program Center of Excellence served over 550 disadvantaged children throughout the 2017-2018 school year with 145 senior volunteers mentoring and tutoring in the classrooms. The program operates in 48 elementary schools, the majority are Title 1 and 5 Head Starts throughout Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties.

The Foster Grandparent Center of Excellence continues to train new volunteers to be part of our program in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. These volunteers experience the joy of being a role model, mentor, tutor and friend to a child at a local Head Start Center or Elementary School.
